Harris Teeter, Kroger and other grocery stores also sells these. Rinse and recycle the pouch with Terracyle to earn money for your school, church or non-profit group AND help reduce waste.

6. Clif Kid Zbars, Fruit Flats, or Fruit Twists ($3.50-4.00/6-8 pack) Also sold at Lowes Foods, Harris Teeter and Kroger, but the best prices are found at Wal-Mart and Target stores.

7. Target stores only. Try the Archer Farms or Simply Balanced fruit flats, fruit bites or fruit twists. Bye Bye Piggy Jell-O, I no longer miss you

10/3/2013

Hello Friends,I can now enjoy jel desserts again and make Piggy Free, Fake Free "Jell-O" style wiggler shapes for my kids!!! As many of you know, gelatin in North America is porcine ( pig) in origin unless otherwise stated in the ingredients list. Even gelatin certified kosher can be from porcine skins ( No- I do not understand that logic). Add to that the artificial colors and/or sweeteners found in most affordable gel dessert products in stores and you have a gel dessert deprived family. I was searching on amazon.com for their newest natural/organic food products and came across Better Bowls puddings and gel desserts. I contacted the company to inquire about the origin of their gelatin and was pleasantly surprised to find that all their gelatin is from beef only. Needless to say in the Northeast part of the country with a high Jewish population, this product is available in grocery stores. However, here in the good ole South, I must still order from Amazon. I am not upset- just happy to find a great tasting, naturally colored, naturally sweetened, non-porcine gelatin  dessert to make all my old favorite Jell-O style recipes. All my kids can say is YUMMY! See the Amazon.com link below. The price is not outrageous and it even includes fiber. WOW. A gelatin dessert with fiber and real ingredients. Bye Bye Piggy Jello- I no longer miss you.
http://www.amazon.com/Better-Bowls-Strawberry-Gelatin-Ounce/dp/B004WZ4D66
For my vegan friends wishing to enjoy gel desserts, I use the brand Natural Desserts Gluten Free, Vegan Jel Dessert I find at Whole Foods which uses no artificial colors. I simply use 1 1/3 to 1 1/2 cups water for every 2 cups water listed on the package so that it comes out with a decent firm consistency suitable for my family's texture preference. I avoid Kojel brand gel desserts as it includes fake colors such as Red #40 and others associated with behavior problems in children and skin issues in many people.
If you have a favorite brand of vegan or other piggy-free gel dessert, please let me know at [email protected]. I love your comments and suggestions.
Enjoy.

The ingredients are salt ( usually less than 30mg) and the whole grain. Since they are precooked, I can simply add the lentils and quinoa to my tomatoes, vegetables and seasonings in place of brown rice or pasta. Coupled with the Harris Teeter HT Traders teriyaki sauce, it makes a great healthy tasty low processed carb meal to enjoy

Harris Teeter - some of these would make a great item to stock up on for church or food pantry donations as well as winter stock up for quick meals
