Hello Friends,
Have you ever run
out of laundry detergent or cleaner, but have
household members with  sensitive skin, eczema or respiratory problems and
 don’t have enough
money to buy a natural/organic brand! Well look no further than this simple 3-in-One recipe to make your own.
There are even some recent coupons to make it even cheaper.
Whoohoo!
Go to www.coupons.com for some great coupons for natural
household items and yummy seasoning.
$0.25 off any two 2lb or smaller Arm & Hammer Baking Soda
$0.50 off Goya Adobo seasoning. [Be sure to get the MSG free version]
$1 off any pack Energizer batteries

Simple 3-In-One  Cleaner ( Laundry + dishwasher+ cleaner)

¼ cup Seventh Generation Free & Clear dishwashing liquid or
 unscented Dr Bronner’s liquid soap
½ cup salt
1 cup baking soda
½ cup water
Stir to mix well each time you use. You can scale up as needed for larger batches.
You can also add your favorite essential oil  for scent. I love peppermint. I prefer to make it with lemon if I want to use the batch in the dishwasher too. I don't want my dishes smelling like peppermint.
1. Use ¼ cup to wash a full load of clothes. This small batch = 8-10 loads.  OR
2. Use as needed to fill up your dishwasher  OR
3. Use as needed to clean the bathroom without a lot of scrubbing

Works great with: Homemade Fabric Softener
1. Add equal amounts of baking soda, white vinegar and water to a container.
Add slowly as baking soda and vinegar will react.
2. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil such as peppermint or lemon for natural scent.
3. Shake to mix. Vent container. Keep closed until use.
4. Shake to mix each time you use (the baking soda will settle to the bottom) and vent.
5. Use ½ cup for each full laundry load.

Used together, you can reduce the fragrance chemical sensitivity and spare your skin and lungs stress. Don’t settle for
cheap brand products when you can make your own
 versions quickly and inexpensively.
Enjoy and share.

Be alert and ready with your DEK today!

Hello Friends,
This message is a guide to how to make an Diabetes Emergency Kit
(DEK) for your church.
I have encountered too many  type 2 diabetic
family members and friends or visitors at church that neglect to eat sufficient food before
attending services - even after taking
insulin or medication- which resulted in low blood sugar episodes..  This can be a scary event but one for which you can be prepared. The symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) include the following:
· Shakiness or anxiety
· Dizziness
· Palpitations
· Sweating
· Hunger
· Headache
· Pale skin color
· Sudden moodiness or behavior changes, such as crying for no reason
· Clumsy or jerky movements
· Difficulty paying attention or confusion

Most churches have a first aid kit, but not many have an emergency kit for low blood sugar emergencies. See the brochures section for a photo of a Diabetes Low Blood Sugar Emergency Kit and a label you can
use to prepare your own kit *

The contents can be obtained and maintained for less than $10 for a small congregation but is adaptable for any size congregation.
The kit I put together for my church consisted of
mostly items from Dollar Tree and cost less than $10.
· Cooler or container such as plastic shoe box with lid ($1)
· Small boxes of raisins ($1)
· Pack 4 oz apple juice boxes ( 2 4/pks at $1 each)
· Peanut butter crackers ( 6/pk for $1)
· Glucose tablets (CVS has a dye-free, naturally flavored version) (<$3)
- hard candy. I prefer Yummy Earth organic lollipops or hard candies. These can be found at health food stores or Whole Foods for under $3/

I encourage you to use this as a guide to prepare a Diabetes Low Blood Sugar Emergency Kit.
Reminder greeting about blood sugar check results to known diabetics by friends or church
 ushers
Weekly church bulletin includes notice for diabetics to seen an usher for use of the emergency
diabetes kit if the need arises.
-Ushers and church health nurses/personnel can be trained to notice medical alert bracelets or signs
of low
blood sugar distress.

* The international symbol for diabetes is the blue circle symbol noted on the label.

I would love to hear your input and how you have implemented this idea to create your own
diabetes emergency kit (DEK) for your congregation.
