This is also a friendly reminder why it is ALWAYS important that you read the ingredients list on all packages- even from companies whose products you love. I really love Gardein vegetarian/vegan non-GMO products. However, I did notice the new Chipotle black bean burgers have "instant coffee" listed as the next to last ingredient. I sent a message to Gardein asking about this and received this prompt response listed below.
Good Morning Dr Lea-Currie,
Thank-you for your email and inquiry about our gardein chipotle black bean burgers. I checked with our QA and the instant coffee is a sub-ingredient in one of the flavours and is less than 0.0005% in the burger. The caffeine content would be much less than that.
None of our other burgers have any coffee (the veggie burger, the beefless burger or our chick’n slider or beefless slider).
