Take Back Your Health. Take Back the Love [of yourself]. Our church has started a new challenge program combining the Take Back Tour ministry, the Adventist In Step for Life campaign and Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign to improve child health and reduce obesity. The children in our lives, whether they are our own, relatives or friends, closely observe how we approach our health. They notice the steps we take to improve our health. They listen to our comments about our bodies, our food choices, our activity choices. Our church has just initiated an incentive program called Take Back 5 Minus 1. Take Back 5 Minus 1 is simple. Take back physical activity, 5 combined servings of fruits and vegetables and reduce (minus) at least 1 junk/fake food item per day. The fake food items includes all artificially sweetened or artificially colored candy, beverages, chewing gum, food. Use the calendar found in the Brochures section to chart your success. Use these tools to create a friendly competition at church, at work or in your family for the person that makes the greatest improvements in either activity or fruit and vegetable intake or reducing the fake food in their lives. I have also included a calendar for November and December I created to help you track these changes and examples of fruit and vegetable serving sizes adapted from the www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org. I would love any feedback on the calendar tools and any suggestions for improvement for 2012.
Don’t forget to Take Back the Love and share it with others.
