_Hello Friends,
With this crazy fluctuating hot/cold weather and the return to school, is it any wonder that our kids keep coming home with coughs and congestion!  Staying up half the night with a coughing child is no picnic. If you, like me, dread having to give your child a conventional medicine filled with artificial colors, sweeteners or unpronounceable ingredients  in order to stop the coughing enough to get some rest, I have found some natural effective, tasty products you can find at stores like Walgreens or Harris Teeter. Zarbee’s and Similasan make great tasting children’s cough medicines with natural honeys, pronounceable ingredients and no fake stuff. Those that know me know I always taste EVERY medicine I give my children. These not only are effective natural products, but tasty too so there is no drama to get kids to take their medicine.
Coupled with fresh fruits and vegetables, no junk food, no junk drinks, plenty of hugs, kisses, water and rest, they will feel better and sleep better soon; this means you get to sleep too!

1. Free sample of Zarbee’s natural cough products. They send the sample for free but charge $1.99 for shipping. They include 3 $1 off coupons to offset the price of shipping so in the end you get a $1 coupon and a sample kit for free. See Walgreens deals below for more details on pricing. Find it in the children’s medicine section at Walgreens, Harris Teeter and some CVS, Wal-mart and Kroger stores.
http://www.zarbees.com/

2. White Cloud toilet paper only $2-3 at Wal-Mart. Print the $2 off coupon at www.whitecloud.com

And to further strengthen your child (and yours) immune system by eating well, here are some recent grocery deals for real foods you can enjoy. The Target sale features kid-friendly items that are a great to re-stock your winter pantry, revamp your pantry with healthier items, and/or donate to your local food bank, church pantry or  a local family in need. People often forget that Thanksgiving and Christmas are not the only times people need to eat well.
PLEASE Share these deals  and information with others. You never know when someone may need the blessing of information and a coupon you have to share.

_Hello Friends,
Great News! The Take Back Tour message is being spread in more languages. Check out the short feature article on page 3 on the Take Back 5 Minus 1 program in the January issue of the North American Health Unlimited Health newsletter in 5 languages!
http://www.nadhealthministries.org/article.php?id=28
In honor, I thought I would share some grocery deals and a simple , inexpensive recipe for how to incorporate more vegetables to meet and even exceed the 5 fruits & vegetables a day. Don’t forget the January Take Back 5 Minus 1 calendar is now available on www.thetakebacktour.com under the Brochures tab to help you track your activity and fruit/veggie intake.
Kale Chips [ thanks Malika B. for sharing]
1-2 pounds fresh kale
Olive oil or olive oil spray
Seasoning of your choice [ Italian style seasoning + sea salt or MSG free, reduced sodium seasoning salt]
  1. Wash fresh kale using white vinegar and water as a veggie wash. Pat or shake to dry. Cut the leaves off the large stems as much as possible. I tried using my hands and a knife and found that kitchen shears worked the best to keep the pieces large.
  2. Drizzle or spray with olive oil.
  3. Season to your taste. My new favorite is now 1 part Tony Chatcher’s Creole seasoning + 2 parts Italian seasoning ( sweet basil, rosemary, oregano, thyme, garlic powder); mix and shake on 1 side of the kale to season
  4. Bake at 200-300 degrees Fahrenheit until the curly edges start to turn brown and crispy.
  5. Enjoy. I store in a closed container for a quick tasty way to enjoy a serving of vegetables. WARNING! These crunchy veggies are addictive.
  6. Experiment by substituting the kale with other fresh green leafy vegetables such as spinach, turnip greens or seaweed.
Kroger fruit deals
-Dark red cherries, $3.99/lb ( great for gout or inflammation; amazingly sweet and tasty)
-Naval oranges 2/$1-
Anjou or Bartlett pears $1-1.39/lb
-Kroger brand canned sliced pears or sliced peaches in 100% pear juice $1 each ( until 1/21/12)
Don’t forget to share this good news with others.

Whether your new year’s resolution is to eat more whole grains, start eating breakfast, eat breakfast more often, eat less at night, loose weight, save money or look better- STOP as you are at the right place to find these things. It is FINALLY starting to get cold in North Carolina this week so I enjoy a bowl of whole grain oatmeal for my “dinner”. I find oatmeal a comfort food naturally high in fiber, protein, and heart healthy fatty acids that tastes great.
The kids are I are experimenting with more recipes so stay tuned for more kid friendly recipes. As always I will share the recipes, tips and YAAH (Yummy Affordable Available Healthy) deals I find so we can all live healthier, look better and feel better this year. Take Back Your Life!

Take Back Your Health. Take Back the Love [of yourself]. Our church has started a new challenge program combining the Take Back Tour ministry, the Adventist In Step for Life campaign and Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign to improve child health and reduce obesity. The children in our lives, whether they are our own, relatives or friends, closely observe how we approach our health. They notice the steps we take to improve our health. They listen to our comments about our bodies, our food choices, our activity choices. Our church has just initiated an incentive program called Take Back 5 Minus 1. Take Back 5 Minus 1 is simple. Take back physical activity, 5 combined servings of fruits and vegetables and reduce (minus) at least 1 junk/fake food item per day. The fake food items includes all artificially sweetened  or artificially colored candy, beverages, chewing gum, food. Use the calendar found in the Brochures section to chart your success. Use these tools to create a friendly competition at church, at work or in your family for the person that makes the greatest improvements in either activity or fruit and vegetable intake or reducing the fake food in their lives. I have also included a calendar for November and December I created to help you track these changes and examples of fruit and vegetable serving sizes adapted from the www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org. I would love any feedback on the calendar tools and any suggestions for improvement for 2012.

Don’t forget to Take Back the Love and share it with others.

Hello Friends,
Early in the Take Back Tour ministry, I wrote an article called What’s In Your Donation Box (http://www.thetakebacktour.com/uploads/2/1/3/8/2138124/whats_in_your_donation_box_2007.pdf). The main point was and still is that healthy food that tastes good should be part of every church pantry or donation center. It should also be part of every donation we make to any organization collecting food to help others.  Just because some one needs some assistance, does not mean they deserve unhealthy food.  See the article for suggested healthy items and brand that are Y.A.A.H ( Yummy-Affordable-Available-Healthy). Buy 1 for yourself and 1 to donate and improve the health of your pantry as well. Pick an item or 2 when on sale. Stay tuned for sales, coupons and deals. Here are some recent deals I have recently observed to help improve the health of not only your pantry, but improve the quality of the donations you share with others.

We all remember the words of Acts 20:35:  I have shewed you all things, ... remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. But let’s not forget the words of Galatians 6:7: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Remember to share goodness and not keep it to yourself. Give love and health and reap the blessings of love and health. As always SHARE-SHARE-SHARE.
